I'm honestly not sure if it belongs to the landlord or the previous renter. I need to ask. For now i’ll cutely cover it up with a “do not disturb” wood sign to cut off the feed. I’m not one with the surveillance state.
It’s not lost on me the irony of the alternatives seem to all be Chinese
As someone living in a big city who walks through neighborhoods blanketed with the cameras, my fury is that I have NO say in being captured walking by, across the street, kids playing outside, tracking our path and timing/routine. And the government and company surveillance isn’t the only problem. These camera captures are being stored and viewed by random strangers in the neighborhood including pedos, registered sex offenders, stalkers, domestic abuse offenders, and just twisted people who might find their jollies watching certain people…again, with no consent whatsoever by the passersby
The ounce of convenience has become more addictive than being willing to protect our communities

For folks who really think they need AI detection and notifications, the local-only, open-source frigate.video software can work with many of these cameras. While their guide recommends Dahua & Hikvision, many models from Reolink & Amcrest work fine.

A lot of my customers seem to use eufy. I’ll check it out.

a reminder to myself that I need to cover the Ring camera that was left behind by an old tenant.
I'd completely remove it if you can - no need to keep it around!
